For this purpose, a team from AIIMS Bhopal organized a counseling session at the Girls School in Sehore. In a girls’ school run under PPP model by Surya Foundation in Sehore, 458 girls were screened for sickle cell disease.
After examination, two girls were found to be suffering from sickle cell disease, while the genes of this disease were found in 62 girls. On behalf of Surya Foundation, AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Ajay Singh was requested for counselling of these girls and their parents. In this connection, a team of AIIMS Bhopal led by Dr. Sachin Bansal counseled such girls who were found to have sickle cell disease or who had such genes, and their parents in the premises of the girls’ school. They were told about this disease.
Information was also given about preventing its spread in the coming generation. Girls who were suffering from sickle cell disease were also given necessary medicines by AIIMS Bhopal. Ajay Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal believes that AIIMS Bhopal will always be committed to providing better health facilities in remote areas and rural areas.
