CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “Providing appropriate health facilities and health-related information to residents in remote rural areas is a goal of Ajay Singh, the Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal. He believes that until we reach the rural population, we cannot truly serve humanity. In this context, on May 21, a team from the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at AIIMS Bhopal, led by Dr. Alpesh Goyal, provided clinical care services. The doctors attended to 27 patients with common endocrine conditions such as diabetes, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, and short stature. During this period, besides capillary blood glucose testing, education on diabetes and insulin was provided. They were also informed on how to prepare meals at a low cost using locally grown and available vegetables and fruits.
Patients were educated about diet and physical activity according to their medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, underweight, and obesity. Ananthan and Syed Ashish from the Department of Community and Family Medicine provided OPD services for NCD patients and advised patients on diet and lifestyle changes. They also conducted a health education session on various control and prevention measures for dengue and other vector-borne diseases, in which 17 beneficiaries participated. Overall, 59 patients benefited from this activity.”
