CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar has sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into alleged irregularities in the Chhattisgarh Youth Congress organisational elections. Chandrakar has alleged fake voting, irregularities in membership and concerns over funding during the election process.

Chandrakar alleged that memberships were being provided through donations and claimed that complaints of fake voting had emerged during the Youth Congress elections. He questioned the transparency of the membership and voting process and called for an independent investigation. These allegations have not been established as findings of fact.

The controversy follows reports from Bhilai and other parts of Chhattisgarh alleging irregularities in the online voting process. A complaint was reportedly filed over allegations that fake voter identities, virtual mobile numbers and OTPs were used to facilitate voting.

Some candidates have also raised concerns about voter IDs and the Youth Congress election application. Reports said the online voting process ended on September 29 and scrutiny of votes was subsequently underway. Officials may cancel votes found to be invalid during the scrutiny process.

Chandrakar has demanded that the alleged fake voting, membership process and funding-related issues be examined as part of the proposed CBI investigation. He said an inquiry should establish whether any irregularities occurred during the organisational election.

The allegations have added to the political debate between the BJP and Congress in Chhattisgarh. The Youth Congress election process and the complaints raised by candidates remain subject to scrutiny, and the allegations require verification through the relevant election and investigative processes.
