CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Agra. The electoral dispute over the Legislative Council teachers’ constituency seat in Uttar Pradesh has continued even after polling. Dr. Akash Agarwal, the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from the Agra teachers’ constituency, has made serious allegations against the police and administration. He claimed that his supporters, teachers and school managers were harassed during the election. While presenting his case, he became emotional and said he was being made to feel as if he were a terrorist who had come from Pakistan.
Dr. Akash Agarwal, speaking to the media, alleged that during the election, action was taken against his associates and school managers in 12 districts, and incidents such as their detention took place. He also alleged irregularities at polling centres and booth capturing. He said that if he had known earlier that contesting the election would force his colleagues to face such harassment, he would not have contested. However, these allegations have been made by the SP candidate. The full position in the matter will become clear only on the basis of independent confirmation and the administration’s official response.
Akash Agarwal also expressed anger and spoke about religious conversion. He said he was considering going to Lucknow next month and converting at the Shahi Eidgah. After this statement, the electoral dispute has taken a new turn.
Dr. Akash Agarwal had earlier won the Agra division teachers’ MLC seat as an independent candidate in 2020. In the 2026 election, he decided to enter the fray on a Samajwadi Party ticket. According to reports, before this he had also been hoping to get a ticket from the BJP. His allegations after the election have sparked a new debate in Uttar Pradesh politics. Attention will now be on the administration’s response and the facts related to any inquiry into the alleged irregularities.
