CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has responded to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks regarding his absence from Ram Temple-related ceremonies in Ayodhya.
Yadav said that faith and devotion determine when a person visits a place of worship. Responding to a question about Yogi Adityanath’s statement, he said, “Bhakti and faith say that a person goes when God calls.”
The remarks came after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said at an event in Lucknow on September 27 that leaders of the Samajwadi Party and Congress had not attended the Ram Temple foundation-laying and Ram Lalla consecration ceremonies despite being invited. He also criticised the parties over their approach to the Ram Temple issue.
The exchange has brought the issue of political leaders’ participation in Ram Temple events back into the political discourse in Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party has previously maintained its own position on visits to Ayodhya and the political discussion surrounding the temple.
Yadav’s latest response focuses on faith and personal religious belief rather than directly addressing the political allegations made by the chief minister. The comments come as political activity intensifies in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
The Ram Temple issue continues to feature prominently in political statements from parties in the state, with leaders presenting differing views on religion, public participation and political messaging.
