Samajwadi Party national president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has expressed strong displeasure over an alleged derogatory comparison between Hindu deities. He alleged that a conspiracy is being carried out through such remarks to weaken the unity of Sanatan society. Akhilesh has demanded an impartial investigation into the entire matter and strict action against the person responsible.
Sharing his reaction on social media platform X, Akhilesh Yadav said an attempt was being made to deliberately compare revered incarnations and present one as superior to the other. He questioned whose intention was behind this and said there should be a thorough investigation into whether any external or internal force was working to create tension in society.
The SP chief said Lord Ram and Lord Krishna are both incarnations of the same supreme power. Describing them as “protectors of the people” and “delighters of the people,” he said true followers of Sanatan hold equal reverence for both. In such a situation, there is no justification for a derogatory comparison between them.
The controversy emerged after an alleged remark about Lord Shri Krishna by Bageshwar Dham Peethadhishwar Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. A video of the statement made during a Ram Katha at Karera in Shivpuri district had circulated on social media. After objections were raised, Shastri clarified that his intention was not to create a distinction between the two deities.
In his post, Akhilesh Yadav also referred to controversies linked to the statue of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, Manikarnika Ghat, temples and Shankaracharya. He said no derogatory comment against any religion, faith, sect or revered deity can be accepted. He demanded that the entire matter be taken up at a high level and punitive action against the guilty be ensured.
