CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya 2026, the state government has issued special vigilance and comprehensive preparation directives to prevent child marriages across the state. Rashmi, Secretary of Women & Child Development, has written to all district collectors instructing the establishment of control rooms, rapid action teams, and information squads in every district to prevent the marriage of minor girls in any mass wedding.

According to the directives, child marriage information squads will be formed in each village and ward, comprising teachers, ANMs, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, women from self-help groups, and panchayat representatives. These squads will prepare lists of adolescent girls, counsel families against child marriage, and take immediate action upon any suspicion or report. Additionally, mechanisms will be ensured for reporting child marriage cases through helpline numbers 181, 1098, and 112.

Students in schools and colleges will be sensitized to the adverse effects of child marriage. At the panchayat level, panches, sarpanches, secretaries, and councilors will take oaths to prevent child marriages in their communities. Awareness rallies will be conducted in both rural and urban areas, while women from self-help groups will engage with families to discourage child marriages. Awareness will also be promoted through local media, social media platforms, WhatsApp groups, and wall writings.

The campaign aims not only to eliminate child marriage incidents but also to empower adolescent girls and raise awareness about their rights. This initiative is expected to be a significant step toward a child marriage-free India. Through vigilant administration, active information squads, and widespread societal awareness, preventing child marriages on this Akshaya Tritiya remains the primary objective.
