The Bar Council of India (BCI) has issued an updated notification regarding the eligibility of final-year candidates with no backlogs, law graduates who have not received their degrees, or those who have received their degrees but have not enrolled for their enrollment certificates. BCI revised the AIBE 19 eligibility criteria, allowing final-year law students and graduates without enrollment certificates to apply for AIBE 19 exams following a recent Supreme Court ruling. Earlier, on September 3, 2024, the Bar Council of India (BCI) released the All India Bar Examination (AIBE 19) 2024 notification, according to which aspiring candidates can apply for AIBE 19 by October 25.
Candidates passing the AIBE exam 2024 will be eligible to practice as lawyers. AIBE is a basic exam that tests students’ legal knowledge and current legal awareness. Those who qualify for the All India Bar Examination will be awarded the Certificate of Practice (COP), a mandatory document for practicing law in Indian courts. AIBE 19 will consist of 100 objective-type questions. The AIBE 19 syllabus 2024 includes general subjects from the LLB program, such as Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, IPC, CrPC, Jurisprudence, IPR Law, etc.
