CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The grand inauguration of the All India Inter-University Drop Roball (Men’s & Women’s) Tournament 2024–25 took place at LNCT University’s Raisen Road campus in Bhopal under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities.
The opening ceremony was graced by Anupam Chouksey, President of the Drop Roball Association of Madhya Pradesh, as the chief guest. He was joined on stage by Ishwar Singh Arya, Founder of the Drop Roball Federation of India, Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh Drop Roball Association, Mritunjay Sharma, Technical Director, as well as Ishwar Singh Panghal, Nagendra Sharma, and Laxman Rathore.
This four-day tournament, running till April 9, 2025, features over 400 male and female athletes from 36 leading universities across India. The event has emerged as a significant platform promoting sportsmanship, physical empowerment, and national unity.
Some of the prominent participating universities include RGPV Bhopal, Awadhesh Pratap Singh University Rewa, Kalinga University, Sandeep University, University of Kota, University of Calicut, Sunrise University, JJTU, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Sangam University, and Kumaun University Nainital.
On the first day, matches of the men’s singles category played under floodlights were highly thrilling. JJTU defeated RGPV Bhopal with a score of 2-0, marking a victorious start. LNCT beat MGKVP 2-0, Sridhar University overcame SKDU 2-0, and IMT defeated CVV Kerala 2-0.
The guests appreciated the growing popularity of the game and the enthusiasm of the players. Anupam Chouksey highlighted that innovative sports like Drop Roball provide a golden opportunity for university-level athletes.
This grand tournament hosted by LNCT University reflects its strong commitment to sports. In the upcoming days, women’s matches, semi-finals, and finals will be held, promising intense competition among the players.
