CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, is organizing the All India Roopak Festival this year as well, continuing its annual tradition. The festival will be held from February 11 to February 14, 2025, at the Anjani Auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is being organized jointly by the Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, and the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh.
The event will commence on February 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM under the chairmanship of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, Srinivas Barkhedi. The inauguration ceremony will feature K. Srinivas Rao, Secretary of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, as the chief guest, Nandini Ramani from Sanskrit Rangam Chennai as the Saraswat guest, and Piyal Bhattacharya from Chidakash Kalle, Kolkata, as the esteemed guest.
The event host will be Ramakant Pandey, Director of the Central Sanskrit University, Bhopal Campus. Each day, six to seven theatrical performances will be staged by drama troupes from Lucknow and Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh), Devprayag (Uttarakhand), Guruvayur and Calicut (Kerala), Balahar and Una (Himachal Pradesh), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Agartala (Tripura), Jammu, Puri (Odisha), and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).
Director Ramakant Pandey emphasized that Sanskrit theater has an ancient tradition yet remains relevant in every era. As the capital of Madhya Pradesh and a hub of art and culture, Bhopal is an ideal venue for this multilingual theater festival. He extended a warm invitation to the city’s residents, intellectuals, and art lovers to witness India’s vibrant cultural and theatrical heritage at this grand event.
Neelabh Tiwari, Deputy Director of the Central Sanskrit University, Bhopal Campus, stated that the festival is being organized in the heart of Bhopal at Ravindra Bhavan for the convenience of local attendees. Artists and performers from across India—North, South, East, and West—will present live performances. Welcoming all theater enthusiasts and Sanskrit lovers, he expressed pride in the uniqueness of Indian culture and art.
