MEIL has been involved in significant political contributions, purchasing electoral bonds worth ₹966 crore, with 60% of that amount, approximately ₹586 crore, going to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as per the data released by the Election Commission on March 21, 2024.

Apart from the BJP, MEIL has also donated to other political parties including ₹195 crore to BRS, ₹85 crore to DMK, and ₹37 crore to YSRCP, showing the company’s broad involvement in political funding.
