BMHRC’s acting director Manisha Srivastava informed that the Amrit Pharmacy has been launched to provide medicines at subsidized rates to non-gas victim patients visiting the hospital. Amrit Pharmacy is a flagship health initiative by the Government of India, which offers essential and life-saving medicines to the public at significantly discounted prices. At this pharmacy, patients will receive medicines, surgical products, etc., at up to 60% lower prices than the market rate. This will greatly reduce healthcare costs for BPL and general-category patients. Additionally, the procurement process for emergency hospital medicines and surgical consumables will become easier.

During the visit, Mr. Alok Sharma also inspected BMHRC’s Eye Bank, where he learned about the corneal transplant process. He directly interacted with patients receiving treatment at the hospital and expressed satisfaction with the services being provided. He was also pleased to note that patients from remote areas are coming to the hospital for treatment. Later, he held a meeting with Dr. Manisha Srivastava and senior doctors and officials of BMHRC, where they discussed future plans for the holistic development of the institution.
