CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “At Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, the two-day International Yoga Day celebration began with an art exhibition, lectures, and cultural programs. The event was held at the university’s new campus in Makhanpuram, with Vice-Chancellor K.G. Suresh presiding over the program and Prashant Pathrabe, Additional Director General of PIB CBC Bhopal, as the chief guest. This two-day event is being organized jointly by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Ravi Shankar’s Art of Living, and MCU.
The first day of International Yoga Day began with the inauguration of exhibitions highlighting the importance of yoga, inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor K.G. Suresh and ADG Prashant Pathrabe at Chanakya Bhavan in the morning. On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Suresh praised the exhibition and encouraged students, teachers, staff, and residents to visit it. The exhibition explains various yoga asanas and pranayama techniques, such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Vajrasana, and Makarasana, through pictures in a simple and accessible manner. This exhibition will continue for two days.
In the lecture on ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ held at the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of the New Media Technology Department, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Suresh stated that yoga has become a mass movement. He mentioned that yoga has been democratized, with people practicing it in neighborhoods, parks, and other places. He highlighted that this is the first time in the university’s history that such a grand event is being held on International Yoga Day. He also mentioned that the university has its own yoga hall, named Sandipani Meditation Center. He noted that cultural programs organized by the university on August 15 and January 26 begin with yoga practice. Suresh emphasized that International Yoga Day is celebrated in 170 countries, rising above religion, caste, and community. Praising the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and the Art of Living, Suresh mentioned their contributions to the university’s International Yoga Day celebrations.”
