CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “Students, professors, subject experts, intellectuals, tourism enthusiasts, and interested dignitaries associated with the Travel, Tourism, and Hotel Management courses at Babulal Gaur Government Postgraduate College, BHEL Bhopal, have collaborated intellectually to form a Tourism Club. The club aims to promote tourism-related activities and assess employment opportunities in this field. Aditya Tare, an engineer by profession and currently working in Nuremberg, Germany, is a member of this club. During his recent visit to his hometown Bhopal, he traveled to Ladakh and found that India, renowned for its diversity and cultural heritage, has also been blessed with extraordinary natural gifts.
No matter where Indians live in the world, they always feel a connection to their homeland. The pictures taken by Aditya Tare while admiring the beauty of nature in Ladakh seem at first glance to have been painted by an artist. These images not only inspire nature-loving artists to pick up their brushes but also silently invite nature-loving tourists and create potential opportunities for diverse employment.
Located in the northernmost region of India, Ladakh is a land of stunning landscapes and cultural richness. It is a place to experience unforgettable adventures filled with breathtaking scenery, unique experiences, and warm hospitality. The capital, Leh, is located in Ladakh and can be reached by air or road. There is an airport with regular flights connecting it to Delhi, Chandigarh, and Srinagar. The highways leading to Leh, often closed due to snowfall for most of the year, offer a thrilling road trip experience when open. The nearest railway station is Kalka, from where buses or taxis can be taken via Shimla to Manali and then to Leh.
Upon arrival in Leh, the cold mountain air and the stunning backdrop of snow-capped peaks greet you. Situated at an altitude of approximately 11,500 feet above sea level, Leh is a center of Tibetan-Buddhist culture, with colorful gompas or monasteries scattered throughout the region. Points of interest include Leh Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery, and Shanti Stupa. The intricate architecture and tranquil atmosphere of these sites provide a glimpse into the spiritual life of Ladakh.
The Hall of Fame Museum, built and operated by the Indian Army, is dedicated to the memory of soldiers who lost their lives in the India-Pakistan wars. It also features a light and sound show that presents the stories of India’s brave sons in a unique way.
In the Sham Valley, there is the Sangam Point where the Indus and Zanskar rivers meet. This offers a unique opportunity for river rafting on both rivers and presents picturesque views for adventure enthusiasts.
Evenings can be spent strolling through the Leh market, where you can enjoy Tibetan souvenirs, Ladakhi cuisine, and Kashmiri handicrafts.
Nubra Valley A trip to Nubra Valley is an adventurous and extraordinary experience. To get there from Leh, you must cross the Khardung La pass, which is situated at an altitude of over 17,582 feet. It is one of the highest motorable roads in the world. The drive is incredibly scenic, with the Shyok River flowing parallel and offering captivating views.
The valley’s sand dunes and double-humped Bactrian camels are unique attractions. A visit to the Diskit Monastery is a must, where the 108-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha overlooks the Nubra Valley as if gazing at the Shyok River and the valley. Adventure lovers can enjoy ATV rides, high-altitude zip-lining, bungee jumping, and go-karting here.
Due to its proximity to national borders, the strategic importance of this location is evident from the continuous presence of the Indian Army. The Border Roads Organization has developed beautiful roads in the most challenging terrains, which serve as a lifeline for the people of Ladakh and connect it to the rest of the country.
Pangong Tso A six-hour drive from Nubra takes you to Pangong Tso. This road trip, with its desolate highways and numerous water crossings, offers natural scenery so beautiful that it seems taken straight from a painting. Pangong Tso is a sight to behold, with its waters changing from blue to emerald to cobalt blue under the sun’s rays. Spending the night in a cabin by the lake under the starlit sky is an unforgettable experience.
On the return to Leh, you will encounter the Chang La pass, another high motorable pass situated at an altitude of 17,688 feet. The drive features sand-colored mountains under a blue sky, with yaks, horses, and marmots adding to the natural beauty.
Ladakh leaves an indelible impression on visitors with its natural beauty and rich culture. It is a destination that not only offers natural grandeur but also provides a profound sense of peace and introspection.
