CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The West Central Railway is committed to safe and secure rail operations, and continuous safety campaigns are conducted to ensure the proper functioning of rail operations. In light of a circular issued by the Railway Board last month and to ensure safe and secure train operations, senior officers, officials, and supervisors from all departments of the divisions and headquarters have been directed to conduct intensive inspections on various safety-related topics/areas.
Under the guidance of General Manager Shobhana Bandyopadhyay and the leadership of the Principal Chief Safety Officer, an intensive safety campaign was conducted across the West Central Railway until August 31. Special attention was given to the following points:
Maintenance of safety-related assets
Track, point, and crossing maintenance
Training and counseling of field staff
Compliance with prescribed rules during train and shunting operations
Adherence to worksite and personal safety rules
Night footplate inspections and night inspections of stations and railway sections
Duty hours of loco pilots/crew staff
Surprise/ambush inspections
Intensive inspections of road overbridges, footbridges, water tanks, roofs, and underpasses, etc.
It is noteworthy that during this intensive safety campaign in August, officers and supervisors conducted 2,273 inspections in Jabalpur division, 2,687 in Bhopal division, and 2,094 in Kota division, resulting in a total of over 7,000 inspections in a single month. The irregularities found during the inspections have been rectified to ensure compliance.
