CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: “An IVF Center will be inaugurated at AIIMS by the end of this year, bringing hope to childless couples and providing test-tube baby facilities to the residents of the state. This was stated by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh during the inauguration of a CME on ‘In-Vitro Embryo Development and Storage in IVF’ and a workshop on ‘The Role of IVF Skill Laboratory with a Simulator for Ovum Pickup and Embryo Transfer’ on World IVF/Embryologist Day.
Prof. Singh emphasized the importance of timely evaluation of infertility in male partners and the necessity of counseling for couples struggling with infertility. He also advised listening carefully to patients to address their misconceptions.
IVF, or In Vitro Fertilization, commonly known as test-tube baby, is an artificial method of conception for couples who have failed to conceive naturally. According to the World Health Organization, around 4 million couples and 18 million individuals worldwide face infertility issues. Approximately 400,000 children have been born through Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).
Previously, Dr. K. Pushpiletha, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, mentioned that this day has been celebrated since 1978, following the birth of the first test-tube baby through IVF. IVF treatment largely depends on the patient’s age and health. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari noted that there are a total of 32 IVF centers operating in Madhya Pradesh. Prof. Singh’s support is always available for any public health initiative at AIIMS.
During the program, experts demonstrated the complexities of IVF and the skills to handle them. Additionally, the entire IVF process and the protocols to be followed were explained. The program also saw participation from Chief Embryologist Dr. Akash More, Lt. Colonel Dr. Pranaya Gurmeet from the Military Hospital, and Dr. Devashish Kaushal from AIIMS.”
