CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Anant National University is set to host the Mass Timber Workshop 2026 on September 24–25 at its campus in Ahmedabad, bringing together experts, academics, professionals and industry representatives to discuss the future of mass timber construction in India.
The workshop is themed “Advancing Policy, Showcasing Performance and Building Capacity for Mass Timber in India.” It will focus on the potential of mass timber as a sustainable construction material and explore how policy development, technical performance and capacity building can support its wider adoption.
Mass timber is increasingly being discussed as an alternative approach to conventional construction, particularly in the context of reducing environmental impacts and promoting more sustainable building practices. The workshop will provide a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, examine emerging practices and discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with timber-based construction in India.
Anant National University’s multidisciplinary focus on architecture, design, climate change and the built environment provides a relevant academic setting for the programme. The university has described the workshop as an effort to connect academic learning with industry expertise and policy discussions around sustainable construction.
The event is expected to encourage dialogue among students, faculty members, researchers and industry stakeholders while highlighting the role of innovative construction materials in creating more resource-conscious built environments.
The workshop will also contribute to discussions around building technical capabilities and creating a stronger ecosystem for mass timber in India.
