CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal: Ananya Panday showed up in a royal blue custom velvet kurta set by the label RajiRamniq at the premiere of the Netflix series Heeramandi, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The sleeveless, plunged neckline kurta featured colourful threadwork embroidery and was paired with a silk dupatta with scalloped borders.
The Gehraiyaan actor paired her custom velvet kurta set with jadau jewellery by the designer Falguni Mehta. Her earrings featured unpolished diamonds set with a fringe of drop set rubies, while her stacked bracelets were a dazzling augmented gradient of white and yellow diamonds along with rubies.
For hair, Panday chose a clean, slicked-back bun tied in place with a gajra made of jasmine flowers. Going with minimal makeup, she wore a micro bindi on her forehead and went for a winged eye and nude peach lips and finished her look with jutti-style heels.
The label RajiRamniq is the brainchild of two sisters, Raji and Ramniq whose design philosophy revolves around the concept of minimalism in the Indian context. They employ embroidery techniques such as zardozi on classic silhouettes in earthy colours for an understated contemporary update. Previous celebrities who have worn their designs include Alia Bhatt, Sara Ali Khan and Madhuri Dixit.
Falguni Mehta is a jewellery designer based in Mumbai specialising in handcrafted jadau jewellery. Jadau is a traditional Indian craft technique that involves embedding precious gemstones into gold. First introduced by the Mughals and worn in the royal courts of India, the craft was then perfected and further developed by the artisans of Rajasthan and Gujarat.
What makes jadau jewellery special is the lack of technology and the use of handcraft in it. Mehta is known to create jadau jewellery for occasion and bridalwear. Her creations have been spotted on celebrities like Madhuri Dixit, Shah Rukh Khan and Janhvi Kapoor.
