CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Google has released a major update for Android users related to managing passkeys and passwords. Users will now be able to transfer their passwords and passkeys from one password manager to another without downloading any unencrypted file. According to Google, the new system transfers credentials securely through Android.
With this feature, changing a password manager will become much easier than before. Initially, transfer support is available between managers such as Google Password Manager, 1Password, Bitwarden and Dashlane. This support may expand further as other partners join.
How to transfer a passkey: First, go to the new password manager and choose the option to import or copy a password or passkey from another provider. Android will then identify compatible password managers available on your phone. After tapping Continue, users will need to go to the old password manager to review and authorise the transfer. The credentials will then be securely transferred within a few seconds.
The update will reduce the need for users to recreate passkeys and will also lower the risk of exporting sensitive data in an unsafe file.
