CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Akhilesh distances himself from Swami Prasad, announces more tickets for women

Political activity has intensified in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav made his stand clear on Swami Prasad Maurya, saying he is not part of the Samajwadi Party alliance. He sent a message to party members not to give importance to Swami Prasad Maurya and to keep him sidelined. After this statement, fresh discussions have begun in the state’s politics.

Akhilesh Yadav also made a major announcement on increasing women’s political participation in the upcoming Assembly elections. He said the Samajwadi Party will give more Assembly election tickets to women in the 2027 polls than the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said women’s participation is extremely important in the development of politics and society.

Raising the issue of the women’s reservation law, Akhilesh Yadav also demanded that the BJP government implement it in the upcoming Assembly elections. He alleged that under the BJP government, there is talk of women’s honour and empowerment, but their problems are not being adequately addressed at the ground level.

The SP chief also mentioned the proposed “Stree Samman Samriddhi Yojana” for women’s economic empowerment. He said that if a Samajwadi Party government is formed in the state, a provision will be made under this scheme to provide women with financial assistance of Rs 40,000 per year.

Akhilesh Yadav’s statements are being seen as part of the Samajwadi Party’s political strategy ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections and as an effort to strengthen its hold among women voters.
