CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Dehradun. Amid the controversy over the alleged role of a VIP in Uttarakhand’s high-profile Ankita Bhandari murder case, actor Urmila Sanawar and former MLA Suresh Rathore have given their consent to undergo narco-analysis and polygraph tests. On Friday, October 23, both appeared before the special CBI court in Dehradun. The court has fixed the next hearing for October 26 to consider the further process and the conditions put forward by the two.

The development is significant amid the investigation into a viral audio clip. The CBI had issued notices to both in connection with the viral audio clip. In the audio, a “VIP” is allegedly mentioned as having a connection with the murder case. Urmila Sanawar had released the audio on social media, claiming that it recorded a conversation with Suresh Rathore and pointed to the role of an influential person in the case. The CBI is examining the authenticity of the viral audio. The claims made in the audio have not been independently verified.

After giving her consent in court, Urmila Sanawar said she was ready to cooperate with the investigation. She demanded that her narco and polygraph tests be conducted in the presence of the media so that the facts could be made public. She also demanded that the alleged VIP be tested. Urmila has described herself as Suresh Rathore’s wife, while Rathore has continued to deny the claim. According to reports, a tense situation was also witnessed over this issue during the court appearance. Urmila expressed anger over Rathore’s conduct and reacted sharply against him. Her statement also included a threat to beat him with slippers in court.

Former MLA Suresh Rathore also agreed to the narco test. He said he would fully cooperate with the investigating agencies and placed a condition that a medical examination be conducted before the test. However, he did not comment in detail on the viral audio or the allegations made by Urmila.

The demand for justice for Ankita continues. Nineteen-year-old Ankita Bhandari worked as a receptionist at Vanantara Resort near Rishikesh. She was murdered in September 2022. In this case, resort owner Pulkit Arya and his two associates were convicted in May 2025 and sentenced to life imprisonment. Attention is now on the questions linked to the alleged VIP and the investigation into the viral audio. Consent for a narco test is not in itself confirmation of any allegation. The further process and the findings of the investigation will determine the position on the unresolved aspects of the case.
