CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: An Anti-Ragging Week is being organized at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) until August 17. On the occasion of Anti-Ragging Day, an awareness program was held for BMHRC students. Renowned psychologist Kakoli Rai was the special guest, and Manisha Srivastava, the acting director of BMHRC, was the chief guest. During Anti-Ragging Week, various special activities will be conducted across different departments to raise awareness among students.

Dr. Kakoli Rai stated that ragging is not limited to physical or direct harassment; it also includes using abusive language or harassment on social media platforms like mobile messages, WhatsApp, and Facebook. Ragging in any form deeply affects the mental state of the victim student, leading to insomnia, anxiety, depression, and even tendencies toward suicide. She emphasized that if any student faces ragging, they should never remain silent but immediately inform their teachers, friends, well-wishers, or contact the anti-ragging helpline or committee.

Dr. Manisha Srivastava said that no incidents of ragging have been reported at BMHRC so far and that there is a harmonious environment among all students. She appealed to students to prioritize helping patients visiting the hospital and to maintain sensitivity toward their peers.

Surabhi Sahay, Dean Academics at BMHRC, stated that all necessary measures have been taken to prevent ragging, and faculty members are always available to support students.
