CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Italian footballer Antonio Candreva announced his retirement on Tuesday at the age of 38 through social media, bringing an end to his nearly 20-year career.

Born in Rome, Candreva primarily played as a right winger and featured in over 500 Serie A matches while representing clubs like Juventus, Lazio, and Inter Milan. However, he won only one major trophy in his career—the Coppa Italia title with Lazio in the 2012-13 season.

Candreva had been a free agent since the expiration of his contract with Salernitana last season and celebrated his 38th birthday last month.

The veteran player made his debut for the Italian national team in 2009 and earned a total of 54 international caps, scoring 7 goals.
