Divisional Commissioner Karmveer Sharma has said that on the auspicious occasion of the Diwali festival, people should take the pledge of “Vocal for Local” and prioritise the purchase of indigenous products.
He extended greetings to all residents of the division on the occasion of Dhanteras, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj and other festivities, and expressed hope that everyone’s life remains happy, prosperous and auspicious. He said, “Let us all celebrate this sacred festival of Diwali with the resolve to share happiness, strengthen affection, and reinforce social harmony and prosperity.”
Karmveer Sharma said the sacred festival of Diwali symbolises the victory of light over darkness, truth over falsehood and good over evil. “My best wishes are that this great festival of lamps brings a new light of happiness, peace, well-being and prosperity into the life of every family. I pray to God that every home and courtyard is illuminated with lamps of joy, and that the spirit of love, harmony and mutual brotherhood in society is further strengthened,” he said.
Sharma said that on this auspicious occasion, he urges everyone to take the pledge of “Vocal for Local” to encourage local artists, potters and clay craftspersons, and to prioritise the purchase of indigenous products. He also appealed to people to celebrate Diwali with enthusiasm while paying special attention to environmental protection, cleanliness and safety.
