CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Apple is moving quickly to strengthen its strategy in the artificial intelligence race. In recent months, the company has brought into its fold several smaller companies and technologies linked to AI, machine learning, visual intelligence and developer tools. However, the claim that it has bought more than 30 startups in 12 months is not clearly supported by available reliable data. According to PitchBook, Apple and other Big Five companies have made a total of 12 AI acquisitions so far in 2026.

Among the most discussed deals in Apple’s AI strategy is the acquisition of Israeli startup Q.ai. According to reports, the deal was worth about $2 billion and is one of the company’s biggest acquisitions to date. Q.ai’s technology could help understand subtle facial movements and voice-related signals, opening the way to improve Siri’s capabilities.

Apple has also added the technology and talent of PromptAI, WhyLabs, Mayday, Pointable and other AI-focused companies to its ecosystem.

Apple’s aim is to keep AI from being limited only to chatbots and instead deliver more personal, faster and on-device experiences across the iPhone, Siri and other devices. Greater control over its chips and data centre capacity is also being seen as an important part of the company’s new AI strategy.
