The program was jointly conducted by the University Self-Reliance Centre, Swadeshi Research Centre, the Department of Humanities, and the Department of Computer Science. The objective of the program was to create awareness among government and university employees about the safe, responsible, and lawful use of social media.
On this occasion, cyber security expert Engineer Tanish Rai provided detailed information on cyber crimes related to social media, data theft, fake links, digital fraud, and cyber laws. He explained how even minor digital negligence can lead to major cyber losses and how such risks can be avoided by taking timely precautions.
Special emphasis was laid on the use of the indigenous application Aratai in place of WhatsApp. It was highlighted that during times of war or emergency, sensitive national data should not be easily shared with external entities, making it essential to use indigenous, secure digital platforms operated under Indian laws.
