CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: In Chhattisgarh, the weather has changed under the influence of cyclonic storm ‘Arnab’. Rain in several areas, including Raipur, Gariaband and Raigarh, is expected to affect normal life. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in five districts of the state. It has also forecast strong winds reaching speeds of 80 kilometres per hour in some areas.

In view of this change in weather, the administration has become alert. Security arrangements and the weather situation are being monitored in the affected areas. Students’ safety has been prioritised with the declaration of holidays in schools. However, the holiday order will be implemented according to the official announcements of the districts concerned and the administration.

Strong winds and rain may lead to problems such as falling trees, disruption of power supply, waterlogging on roads and disruption of traffic. In such a situation, people are advised to follow weather-related warnings and avoid stepping out of their homes unnecessarily. The administration and departments concerned need to increase monitoring in sensitive areas and make necessary arrangements to deal with any emergency.

Citizens should avoid standing in open places, weak buildings, near electric poles and under trees. In view of the weather situation, people have been appealed to rely on official information from the local administration and the Meteorological Department. Special caution should be exercised in red alert areas, and the authorities concerned should be contacted in any emergency.
