CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has been fined 15% of his match fee following an on-field incident involving New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell during the T20 World Cup final. The penalty was imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after Arshdeep breached the code of conduct by throwing the ball toward the batter during play.

The incident occurred during India’s commanding performance in the final, when Arshdeep fielded the ball in his follow-through and threw it toward the striker’s end, striking Mitchell. Match officials reviewed the situation and determined that the act constituted a Level-1 offence under the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to inappropriate or potentially dangerous use of the ball.

Arshdeep reportedly accepted the sanction and the proposed penalty, meaning no formal disciplinary hearing was required. Level-1 breaches typically result in fines and demerit points rather than suspensions.

Despite the controversy, the incident did little to affect the outcome of the match, as India delivered a dominant performance to secure the T20 World Cup title. Cricket analysts noted that such incidents are rare but highlight the ICC’s strict enforcement of player conduct rules to maintain fairness and sportsmanship on the field.
