CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Lakhan Patel, stated that milk production holds a vital place in the economic development of the country. He emphasized that improving the breeds of cows and buffaloes can significantly increase milk yield. Breed improvement in bovine species should be pursued as a mission through artificial insemination. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the state has set a target to increase milk production from 9% to 20%, and efforts must be made to achieve this promptly. High-quality artificial insemination will help improve breeds and expand breeding coverage, thereby boosting milk production. The centrally run National Artificial Insemination Programme should also be implemented effectively within the state.

An Artificial Insemination Training and Orientation Workshop was organized at the State Institute of Animal Husbandry Training, Bhopal. In the workshop’s various technical sessions, extensive discussions were held with participants on enhancing milk production, implementing breed improvement of bovine species through artificial insemination as a campaign, sorted sexed semen technology, silage production, and feed and fodder management.

Distinguished participants included Umakant Umrao (Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairy), Satyendra Singh (Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairy), P.S. Patel (Director, Animal Husbandry and Dairy), Umesh Chandra Sharma (President, Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi), Sanjay Govani (Managing Director, MPCDF), Satya Nidhi Shukla (Managing Director, State Livestock and Poultry Development Corporation), and Dr. Manoj Gautam (Joint Director, State Institute of Animal Husbandry Training).

Officers from all districts of the state participated in the workshop. The event was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the esteemed guests. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were assessed and feedback was collected. The program was conducted by Priyakant Pathak and coordinated by Anupam Agrawal.
