CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: AAP convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will vacate the chief minister’s residence on Friday, a statement issued by AAP said. Kejriwal resigned as the chief minister, last month after getting bail from the Supreme Court in the money laundering case.
AAP had announced that he would vacate his official residence before Navaratri holidays and would “live among the common people” after vacating CM’s official residence at Civil Lines.
Now, AAP has announced that Kejriwal will move to an an MP’s bungalow in the Lutyens’ Delhi. The former Chief Minister will live with his family at the official residence of Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal on Ferozeshah Road near Mandi House, close to the AAP headquarters at Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane.
Earlier the party had said that Kejriwal is looking for a property which is dispute free and there is no problem in living there. It added that he wants to live around New Delhi, from where he is an MLA to remain connected to people. “Many MLAs, councillors, party workers and common people are offering them their houses to the AAP Chief,” AAP added in the statement.
Kejriwal represents New Delhi constituency in the Delhi Assembly, the party said. Earlier, the AAP also demanded the Central government to provide an official residence to Kejriwal as the chief of a national party.
The former Chief Minister had submitted his resignation to Lieutenant Governor (L-G) VK Saxena on September 17 after Atishi was nominated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators to succeed Kejriwal. This happened two days after he was released from Tihar Jail.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s release from prison became a talking point again after Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, accused the BJP of orchestrating the release of Kejriwal ahead of the Haryana elections to damage the Congress’s chances in the Assembly elections.
