CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Aryan Shukla holds nine Guinness World Records at the age of 16, and has twice become Mental Calculation World Champion.

Sixteen-year-old Aryan Shukla, a resident of Nashik in Maharashtra, has earned global recognition for his exceptional mental calculation ability. His talent for carrying out even the biggest calculations within seconds, without a calculator or paper and pen, has earned him the name “Human Calculator”. Aryan has so far set nine Guinness World Records and has won the Mental Calculation World Cup twice. His story shows how curiosity, regular practice and family support can take a child’s talent to great heights.

Aryan’s journey in mathematics began at the age of just six, when he started practising mental maths. In the beginning, his parents noticed his extraordinary speed in calculation. About a year and a half later, they realised that Aryan’s ability was different from the ordinary. The family then encouraged him to take part in competitions.

In 2018, at the age of eight, Aryan represented India at the Memoriad Turkey Open Championship held in Istanbul. In this competition, he won a total of 10 medals, including seven gold medals, and also set two child world records.

Aryan’s talent gained international recognition in July 2022, when he won the Mental Calculation World Cup held in Paderborn, Germany. He was only 12 years old at the time. In September 2024, he took part in the competition again and defended his title. He scored 819.84 points out of 900 and won trophies in six major categories.

Aryan’s Guinness records are linked to difficult calculations such as mentally adding, multiplying and dividing large numbers, and finding square roots. In February 2024, he set his first Guinness record by adding 50 five-digit numbers in 25.19 seconds. In December 2024, he set six records in a single day in Dubai. In April 2026, in Italy, he set two more records related to square roots of eight-digit numbers and division of large numbers.

Aryan is a Class 11 student at Delhi Public School in Nashik. He had scored 97 per cent in his Class 10 board examination. He has a special interest in mathematics and physics. His father, Nitin Shukla, says the family never put pressure on him to set records or achieve better results. For them, their son’s hard work and interest are more important than the outcome.

Aryan is now also working to take his talent to other children. He is a founding board member of the Global Mental Calculators Association. He has also conducted online programmes to help children overcome their fear of mathematics and learn mental calculation.

Aryan’s achievements send the message that even in the era of technology and artificial intelligence, the capacity of the human brain can be developed through practice and concentration. Behind his success is not only extraordinary talent, but also years of hard work and the positive guidance of his parents.
