CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Guna | The newly built Ashoknagar Head Post Office will be inaugurated by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Giving details of the programme, Guna Superintendent of Post Offices O.P. Chaturvedi said the new building of Ashoknagar Head Post Office, designed under the Government of India’s planning and architecture framework, will be inaugurated by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Under the Government of India’s ambitious post office modernisation initiative, the building has been constructed in place of the old Ashoknagar Head Post Office building at a cost of about Rs 2.35 crore, in line with the design guidelines of the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. Keeping Ashoknagar’s historical and cultural identity in mind, the post office building has been given a modern, attractive and citizen-centric form.

In accordance with SPA’s design guidelines, both the exterior and interior of the post office building have been made modern and attractive. A key feature is “Jan Seva Connect”, envisaged as a multipurpose citizen facilitation centre through which postal department services will be made available to the public at one place. It will be useful for youth, senior citizens and ordinary citizens.

The modernisation of Ashoknagar Head Post Office is not limited to reconstruction and beautification of the building, but is an important step towards developing the post office as a modern, citizen-centric public service centre. Through modern facilities and an improved service environment, efforts have been made to provide citizens with Speed Post, savings bank, postal life insurance, Aadhaar, parcel, passport and other postal and financial services in a more convenient manner.
