CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics, and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, honored 101 railway officials at the 69th Distinguished Rail Service Awards ceremony held today at Bharat Mandapam. Additionally, shields were presented to 22 top-performing railway zones. The event was graced by the presence of Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar and General Managers from various railway zones.
On this occasion, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated the awardees for their exceptional contributions. He highlighted the transformational progress of Indian Railways over the past decade, mentioning projects like rail links from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, electrification efforts, and initiatives such as Vande Bharat and Namo Bharat trains. The minister emphasized the need for new measures to improve safety and maintenance and reiterated the goal of achieving 100% electrification by 2025.
He stressed the importance of enhanced employee training, advanced inspection systems, and improved infrastructure. Vaishnaw also committed to promoting initiatives like the Zero Derailment Zone. He lauded the government’s steps toward modernizing railways and ensuring world-class services for passengers.
Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar discussed modernization plans and safety measures to meet contemporary demands. He emphasized the need for technological advancements to improve passenger experiences in the future.
