CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Under the guidance of Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh and the chairmanship of ADM Ankur Meshram, a meeting of the District Wetland Committee was held. During the meeting, a proposal was presented for the establishment of a national and international-level Water Sports Complex in the Khanugaon area. Present at the meeting were SDM Ravishankar Rai, Deputy Collector Lakhan Singh Choudhary, Bhopal Municipal Corporation City Planner Anup Goyal, and officials from PWD, Water Resources, Pollution Control Board, and other concerned departments.

Assistant Director of the Sports Department, Kshipra Srivastava, informed that Bhopal is among the top contenders in the country for hosting the proposed Asian Championship in 2026. Considering the potential for successful water sports activities in the Khanugaon area, a plan has been made to build the Sports Complex on approximately 1.5 acres of land.

She stated that the complex will be constructed at a distance of 50 meters from the full tank level, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). The complex will include facilities such as a gym, boat house, changing rooms, and offices. The proposed construction will be entirely based on prefabricated technology, ensuring that no permanent or solid structures are built.
