CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is continuing to question Special Operations Group (SOG) Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Soni, who was arrested in connection with an alleged Rs 2 crore bribery case in Udaipur, Rajasthan. During the investigation, important information has also emerged regarding his iPhone. According to reports, Soni is not sharing the mobile phone password with the ACB, and the investigating agency is trying to obtain possible evidence from the phone.
According to the ACB, there was suspicion that Soni had knowledge of the complainant’s bribery-related complaint. It is alleged that the complainant was then kept under watch. The complainant had also told the ACB that he and his wife feared being monitored, because of which he was hesitant even to visit the ACB office.
In the case, the ACB had allegedly caught middleman Sajjan Singh Jain while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 crore. ASP Mukesh Soni was also arrested the next day. It is alleged that the money was demanded in exchange for securing relief for the accused in one case and for not naming them as accused in other cases.
The ACB custody period has now been extended until October 3. The investigating agency is examining the role of other possible persons in the case and the available evidence, including the mobile phone.
