CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) holds little significance in Assam, predicting the state to receive the fewest citizenship applications. The remarks came as the Ministry of Home Affairs launched a portal for CAA applicants, aiming to fast-track citizenship for undocumented non-Muslim migrants from specific countries. Sarma emphasized that Assam’s involvement with the National Register of Citizens will drive applications, expressing confidence in BJP’s victory in 13 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats and foreseeing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return for a third term after the polls.
