CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the joint auspices of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University, Bhopal, and the National Sindhi Language Development Council, New Delhi, a national seminar was organized on the occasion of International Mother Language Day. The theme of the seminar was “The Existence and Challenges of Mother Languages in the Technological Era: A Special Reference to the Sindhi Language.”

Emphasis on Language Preservation
Chief Guest Kailashchandra Pant highlighted that language is not just a means of communication but also a carrier of culture and values. He emphasized the importance of preserving linguistic heritage in the digital era, stating:
“Use Google and modern technology, but do not forget the values of your mother tongue.”
Vice-Chancellor Khemsingh Daheriya stressed the fundamental role of mother languages in shaping thought and expression. He called the seminar a significant initiative for language promotion and highlighted the university’s efforts in linguistic development.
The Existence and Challenges of the Sindhi Language
Former National Sindhi Language Development Council member Kavita Israni shared historical insights, stating that Sindhi language faced existential threats post-partition. However, digital platforms are now helping Sindhi speakers connect and preserve their linguistic heritage.
Former SBI officer Anil Nigudkar emphasized that individuals must take personal responsibility for preserving their mother tongue. He also discussed the historical development of the Marathi language and its relevance in the broader context of linguistic preservation.
The Role of Mother Languages in the Technological Era
Experts highlighted the importance of translation and digital content for language survival in the modern era. Ashok Kadel stressed that
“Using the mother tongue at home is the most effective way to ensure that future generations remain connected to their language.”

At the closing ceremony, Registrar Shailendra Kumar Jain expressed gratitude and emphasized the need for continuous efforts in language preservation and promotion.
The seminar witnessed active participation from scholars, researchers, teachers, and students from various universities.
