CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the awareness campaign being conducted in 2024 to prevent child begging, the team formed under this campaign visited identified “hot spots” in the city as well as New Market, Kamla Park, Raja Bhoj Setu Bridge, Lalghati Chauraha, and Ayodhya Nagar. An intensive awareness campaign was conducted by the team to prevent begging.
At each location, regional supervisors from the Women and Child Development Department, Anganwadi workers, members of the police department, Special Juvenile Police Unit, Scouts and Guides, and members of volunteer organizations provided counseling to children found begging and their families, advising them not to involve children in begging and to connect children with education. They also warned that if found begging again, actions would be taken under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. Additionally, a database was prepared to connect the children and their families with various social security and welfare schemes.
