CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A awareness program on animal bites was organized under the theme “Be Aware Today for a Safe Tomorrow” by the Trauma and Emergency Medicine Department at AIIMS Bhopal. The inauguration of this program focusing on the prevention of animal bites and rabies was done by the Executive Director, Mr. Ajay Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Ajay Singh emphasized that animal bites are not only a medical concern but also a social concern that requires immediate attention. He stated that creating awareness about animal bites, especially rabies prevention and management, is a challenging task and educating the public is essential.
He emphasized the need to extend efforts beyond the scope of our organization to achieve this goal. Dr. CMO Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer, supported the collaborative efforts to address public health challenges. Prior to this program, Professor Yunus, Head of the Trauma and Emergency Medicine Department, presented alarming statistics related to animal bites in India.
He highlighted that every hour, two lives are lost due to rabies in the country, underscoring the critical need for such awareness campaigns. Additionally, medical students presented a skit related to awareness about animal bites during the event.
