Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS Bhopal is organizing various activities throughout September as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, aimed at raising awareness about childhood cancer and enhancing the knowledge of healthcare professionals. AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Ajay Singh stated, “Childhood cancer is a serious global health challenge, and raising awareness about its early detection, prevention, and treatment is crucial to saving young lives. At AIIMS Bhopal, we are committed to advancing this cause through initiatives like Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which allows us to engage with the community and enhance the knowledge and preparedness of our healthcare professionals.”

In line with this, the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Department of AIIMS Bhopal, in collaboration with the Pediatrics Department of GMC Bhopal, organized an awareness talk, followed by a quiz competition. The talk was delivered by Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist Dr. Narendra Chaudhary from AIIMS Bhopal. Mohnish, Sakshi (MD Pediatrics Residents), and Pakkireish Reddy (DM Pediatric Hematology Oncology Resident) served as quiz masters. The quiz winners were Shefali Pawar (First Prize), Manisha Ghosh Roy (Second Prize), and Dovinish Kadbe (Third Prize).

On this occasion, Dr. Shikha Malik, Head of the Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS Bhopal, and Dr. Jyotsna Srivastava, Head of the Department of Pediatrics at GMC Bhopal, encouraged PG students to apply their knowledge and skills for the early diagnosis of cancer in children. Executive Director Ajay Singh praised the outreach initiative, stating that to raise awareness, “We must step outside the boundaries of this campus and reach out to the people.”
