Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has referred to the development works and cultural events held in Ayodhya after 2017 ahead of Deepotsav. He said modern facilities have expanded in the Ram Nagari along with religious faith. According to the Chief Minister, the grand Ram temple, Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Rampath, developed ghats and efforts towards a solar city reflect Ayodhya’s changing form.
Deepotsav becomes part of cultural identity
Yogi Adityanath said in a message shared on social media that Deepotsav, which began in 2017 with 1.71 lakh lamps, has now gained recognition as a major cultural event. Preparations are being made for the tenth Deepotsav to be held this year, including lighting lakhs of lamps on the banks of the Saryu, taking out tableaux based on the Ramayana and holding cultural programmes. The purpose of the event is to present religious traditions and Indian culture on a wider scale.
From Ram temple to better connectivity
The Chief Minister credited the changes in Ayodhya to the efforts of the Centre and the state government. Along with the construction of the Ram temple, he listed air connectivity, road facilities, development of ghats and expansion of modern facilities in the city as major achievements. Keeping in view the rising movement of tourists and devotees in Ayodhya, emphasis is also being placed on developing infrastructure and facilities.
Questions also raised on the situation before 2017
Yogi Adityanath criticised previous governments over the condition of Ayodhya before 2017. He alleged that during that period, the development and religious importance of the Ram Nagari did not receive the expected priority. These remarks are part of the Chief Minister’s political statement. Development projects in Ayodhya and the expansion of Deepotsav have accelerated efforts to establish the city as a major centre of religious tourism. However, for a broader assessment of the city’s development, it is also necessary to consider aspects such as basic facilities, the needs of local people, employment and benefits from tourism.
