CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been released from Sitapur Jail after spending nearly two years behind bars. His release follows the Allahabad High Court granting bail in the Quality Bar land encroachment case. Khan’s son, Adeeb, along with hundreds of party workers, gathered outside the jail to welcome him. The district administration imposed prohibitory orders to maintain order as supporters gathered.
Khan expressed gratitude to his supporters, stating, “Thanks to everyone. My blessings to all who supported me.” He also addressed rumors about joining the Bahujan Samaj Party, clarifying that he had been out of touch due to restrictions during his imprisonment.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav welcomed Khan’s release and announced that all “false” cases against him would be withdrawn if the party returns to power in Uttar Pradesh. The party views this as a victory of justice and a step towards rectifying alleged political persecution.
