CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: New Delhi/Balaghat: Balaghat Chinnor rice, the pride of Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh and a GI-tagged product, has made its distinct mark at the three-day “Bharat International Rice Conference 2026” held at the prestigious Bharat Mandapam in the national capital, New Delhi. The aromatic rice, selected under the “One District-One Product” initiative, is being showcased prominently at the conference.
At this international conference, a special stall has been set up for the promotion of Chinnor rice under the joint aegis of the Madhya Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board, Bhopal, and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. Balaghat district is being represented at this global event by Lalbarra Chinnor Farmer Producer Company Limited. FPO president Ishupal Chauhan and director member Radhelal Patle briefed national and international rice exporters, traders and representatives visiting the stall about the unique quality, natural aroma, and medicinal and traditional importance of Chinnor rice.

Through this global platform, the local farmer producer organisation has received a valuable opportunity to hold direct B2B discussions with foreign buyers, along with major Indian exporters. This has strengthened hopes of securing an international market for Balaghat’s organically and traditionally produced Chinnor rice, which would directly benefit local paddy-growing farmers economically. Notably, Chinnor rice, known for its unmatched fragrance, softness after cooking and sweetness, received the Geographical Indication tag in 2021. Visitors and exporters coming to the Chinnor stall at Bharat Mandapam have been widely appreciating this unique product.
