A serious case of alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old girl has come to light in Balod district of Chhattisgarh. According to information, the girl had left home to buy a pen, but was found unconscious at night. About 12 days after the incident, the girl narrated her ordeal to her mother, after which the matter came to light. Police took action and detained three accused.
It is being said that after the incident, the family expressed concern over the girl’s condition and the alleged assault on her. After the girl informed her mother, the family took the matter seriously and the complaint reached police. Police then began an investigation and took action in connection with the suspects.
The police investigation is important in this case involving a minor. During the probe, the circumstances of the incident will be ascertained on the basis of the girl’s statement, available evidence and other related facts. After three accused were taken into custody, they are being questioned.
In cases of sexual offences against minors, protecting the identity and privacy of the survivor is legally very important. Therefore, no information that could reveal the girl’s identity should be made public. At present, official information from police and the findings of the investigation are awaited.
