CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal / raipur :  Balrampur district has emerged as the wettest region in the state this monsoon season, recording a remarkable 928 mm of rainfall, significantly surpassing the state’s average of 592 mm. According to the latest data released by the State Meteorological Department, the district has witnessed intense and consistent downpours, contributing heavily to the overall state average.

Officials report that the monsoon, which arrived on time this year, has brought widespread rainfall to most regions of the state, helping to fill reservoirs, revive crops, and ease water scarcity concerns. While Balrampur leads with the highest recorded rainfall, other districts like Surguja, Jashpur, and Bastar have also reported substantial precipitation, ranging between 600 to 800 mm.

The heavy rains have brought both relief and concern. On one hand, farmers are optimistic about a good harvest, particularly of paddy and pulses. On the other, continuous rainfall has raised alarms about possible flooding in low-lying areas. Authorities have advised residents to stay alert and have put disaster response teams on standby in vulnerable districts.

Balrampur’s rainfall pattern is being closely monitored, as meteorologists predict more showers in the coming days. Meanwhile, officials are focused on ensuring that irrigation infrastructure, dams, and drainage systems are well-maintained to handle the increased water flow.

As monsoon activity remains active across the region, the state administration continues to coordinate with weather agencies and local authorities to mitigate risks and maximize the benefits of the season’s generous rains.
