CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: We all know bees as honey-producing insects or fear them for their sharp sting. However, their role in the environment extends far beyond that. Bees aid in pollination by dispersing pollen among plants, contributing to the flourishing of the botanical world. However, increasing pollution and the rampant use of pesticides have severely threatened the existence of bees, alongside other insects, impacting agricultural production and the entire plant ecosystem.
Keeping this in mind, a ‘B-Trail’ has been established on the campus of Barkatullah University to raise awareness about bees among students. Notably, the university runs several courses related to agriculture and biodiversity. Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Jain, the university provides students with opportunities for field-based experiential learning. The ‘B-Trail’ was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Jain.
Mumbai-based organization Under The Mango Tree has provided technical support for the construction of this first-ever ‘B-Trail’ in Madhya Pradesh, while DCB Bank has funded its establishment as part of its CSR initiative.
On this occasion, Prof. Srinivas, Lakshmi, senior journalist Abhilash Khandekar, officials from DCB Bank, professors, and students of the university were present.
