CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: Barkatullah University Vice-Chancellor Deendayal Bediya held a meeting with wardens, the university engineer and hostel superintendents, prioritising improvements in the arrangements at the university’s girls’ and boys’ hostels and the prompt resolution of students’ problems.
At the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor directed officials to provide better facilities to students in the hostels, identify their problems and ensure time-bound redressal. Bediya instructed all wardens to maintain regular communication with students living in the hostels, listen to their problems seriously and take immediate steps for their solution.
He said the relationship between wardens and students should not be merely administrative, but should be like that of a guardian. Wardens should deal with students with the sensitivity of a parent and father, so that students feel safe in the hostels and can share their problems without hesitation.
The Vice-Chancellor issued clear instructions to the university engineers to immediately complete necessary repair and maintenance work in the hostels. He laid special emphasis on keeping window meshes, water coolers, electrical equipment, Wi-Fi and other essential facilities in proper condition. He said it is the responsibility of the university administration to provide students with a safe, clean and convenient environment.
In this sequence, the Vice-Chancellor visited Nivedita Girls’ Hostel this morning and inspected the arrangements there. During the inspection, he reviewed the condition of some damaged rooms and instructed the university engineer to immediately repair them and make them usable, so that these rooms can also be made available for allotment to girl students. Through this initiative, work will be done to ensure better use of the residential facilities available in the hostel.
Bediya also stressed cleanliness on the university campus and awareness of social responsibility. In this connection, he urged women and men participants who practise yoga in various offices and departments on the university campus to cooperate in keeping the campus clean and orderly in the spirit of corporate social responsibility.
He said cleanliness is not the responsibility of any one department or employee alone, but is a collective responsibility of all of us. Every individual should make a positive contribution while fulfilling responsibilities towards society and the institution. He also requested employees working in the hostels to help maintain cleanliness in and around the hostels through voluntary labour and to increase awareness about cleanliness.
The aim of the Vice-Chancellor’s initiative is to provide better basic facilities, a safe environment and sensitive administration to students living in the hostels. The university administration is taking necessary steps towards continuous improvement in hostel arrangements, dialogue with students and prompt resolution of their problems.
