CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Department of Physical Education at Barkatullah University organized the first day of National Sports Day to pay tribute to Major Dhyan Chand. Discussions were held on his personality and achievements. Participants engaged in activities including Pittu (traditional Indian game) competitions, aerobics, and other physical exercises. Under the Fit India initiative, students took a pledge through an oath-taking session.

Approximately 300 students, along with teaching faculty and staff, participated in the day’s events. On this occasion, former student of the University’s Physical Education Institute, Pragati Dubey, along with international women shooting player and Vikram Awardee Bhuvan Singh, Shivrani, and Garima Gupta, were honored.

A women’s football competition was conducted under the guidance of women’s football coach Chanchal Koshik. The program’s chief guests included Registrar Anil Sharma, Assistant Registrar Puneet Shukla, Director of Physical Education Alok Mishra, Sports Officer Ravindra Kaushik, and other officials including Anil Tanwar, Mukesh Sharma (Adventure Cell In-charge), Deepak Singh, Lieutenant Sarita Kushwaha, Poonam Singh, Chandrabhan Uike, Akshay Lodhi, Sumit Patel, Afak Mohammad Khan, Akhtar Hussain, and Indrajeet.

Over the next two days, activities will include sports discussions, debates, tug-of-war, and other competitions. On the final day, Sunday, a cycling rally will be organized within the university campus.
