Barkatullah University, Bhopal, successfully hosted an important lecture on “National Recognition in Science: The Struggle of Indian Scientists” at the Gyan Vigyan Bhavan on the university campus, in collaboration with Pragya Pravah. Scholars, research students, and a large number of students from the education sector attended the event.
The program began with the arrival of the guests, followed by a ceremonial garlanding and lamp lighting at the statue of Goddess Saraswati, marking the formal inauguration. NSS students performed a collective singing of the national song Vande Mataram, filling the venue with patriotic fervor.
During the introduction of the guests, Direndra Chaturvedi, Coordinator of Pragya Pravah, introduced the keynote speaker, J. Nandkumar, All India Coordinator of Pragya Pravah. Rahul Singh Parihar, NSS Coordinator at Barkatullah University, introduced the chief guest, Indra Singh Parmar, Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Suresh Kumar Jain, who presided over the program, highlighted the relevance and significance of the topic in his welcome address. In his lecture, keynote speaker J. Nandkumar emphasized that science is a universal subject, but emerging technologies also bring new challenges. Using AI as an example, he noted that it can write poetry and influence decision-making processes. He warned that future wars could be fought through technological means and stressed the cultural and civilizational aspects of scientific knowledge. He also acknowledged the contributions of Indian scientists to the freedom struggle.
Chief Guest Indra Singh Parmar stated that during the British colonial period, India’s scientific achievements were concealed, and today it is necessary to revive and highlight India’s scientific heritage.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Registrar S. B. Singh and a collective singing of the national anthem Jana Gana Mana. The event was coordinated by Ram Babu Mehar.
