CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of National Sports Day, the Department of Physical Education at Barkatullah University, Bhopal, organised various sports activities.
As part of the programmes, inter-departmental tug-of-war competitions for women and men, along with skill demonstrations in various sports, were held, in which university students participated enthusiastically. In the tug-of-war competition, the Department of Physical Education secured first place, while the Department of Yoga stood second. The prizes were presented by Prof. Pawan Mishra, Dean, Student Welfare, and Dr. Achhelal, head of the Department of Languages.
On National Sports Day, Prof. Shashank Shekhar and Dr. Alok Mishra garlanded the portrait of hockey legend and India’s pride, Major Dhyan Chand, at the university sports ground, paying tribute to him and recalling his life and contribution to sports.
A football match was also organised on the occasion, in which senior citizens, along with university students, participated enthusiastically. The joint participation of students and senior citizens made the programme especially inspiring and lively.
Ravindra Kaushik, Anil Tanwar, Dr. Akshay Singh, Dr. Poonam Singh, Dr. Chandrabhan and Dr. Sarita Singh, along with university teachers, officers and employees, were present.
